The movie was preluded by Vicco Vajradanti and Vicco Tumeric (nahi Cosmetic ) advertisements that reminded me of the Saturday-night-movie-watching at Doordarshan as a kid. After few more Hyderabad establishment's advts, a few public notices , No Smoking and 'Need No Pirate' posters , the movie finally started.
The screen paves a way to the Pre world war British era and the eyes take some time to get accustomed to the darker tones of the screen . If you are bored of watching the scantly clad chicks of hollywood , the dark robes of the characters here provide some variety . Now in retrospect, Red and black and white offcourse were the only colors in the whole movie.
Though robert is the witty, funny, sharp and ever so quick detective of yours , I always kept looking for the fair toned, green eyed Jude Law , the possessor of a balmy Brit voice. The dialogues have a rhythm of a flowing stream and the verbosity characteristic to British English. Rather than saying "No" or " Shut up!! " to one of Robert's annoying questions Jude answers " I would not like to grace that question with an answer". :)
The scenes take you through a wide panorama of snow covered landscapes making me shiver even with my jacket on . Stephen Fry was a nice surprise as the elder Holmes. All through the movie I was busy connecting the dots and the frilly dialogues kept me busy , aptly named a 'A Game of Shadows' . The best part of the movie is how it ends and you dole out your heart to the smart & sexy Holmes..needless to say he's gonna be a part of my dreams for many nights to come..:)
